Radon Testing
As part of your home inspection, you may choose to have a radon test performed by MGA Home Inspections. When buying a home in Massachusetts home buyers should understand what radon gas is and how it may enter the home.
What is Radon?
Radon gas is an odorless, colorless, tasteless radioactive gas that is undetectable by human senses. The natural breakdown of uranium found in soil and rocks creates radon, which spreads out and moves up through the ground/soil.
How does Radon get into the House?
Because radon is a gas, it spreads out through the ground/soil and into homes through tiny holes and cracks in the foundation of a home. Any house, in any state or any age, can have elevated levels of radon. It depends on the way a specific house interacts with the surrounding soil. A neighbor’s radon level may differ from your home.
